If I ever live in Providence, this is where you will find me. Established in 1753, this is among the oldest lending libraries in the world and long a center of Providence’s intellectual and cultural life.
I just returned from a trip to Rhode Island and seriously, I really want to know if there is a more glorious place to be than New England in the fall. The leaves turning and the crispness in the air just take my breath away.
I was among the students who flocked here each September. But I had scarcely returned since graduating from Boston University in the mid-90’s. I marvel at how I was able to stay away for so long. New England is one of my pilgrimage places- those deeply resonant and restorative places my soul recognizes.
I am still full from having been there again.
